Eight-month sentence for man with 131 previous convictions

Paul Daly (27) was given an eight-month sentence with 12 months probation when he was charged at Belfast Crown Court with driving away a vehicle without the owner's consent, driving with no insurance, while disqualified and with excess alcohol. The court heard that Daly, who has 131 previous convictions, 64 for motoring offences, drove away in a taxi while the taxi-driver was removing a child's buggy from the boot.
